Hey from Mayberry!
Yes, we put our 'old timey' geek on & went to see everything Andy Griffith. He was born in this town. Everything on the "Andy Griffith Show" is still here in this town.
We started at the Andy Griffith Museum. We learned that he starred in plays like the Lost Colony. He also starred in many movies & also plays guitar & sang.
Some of the clothes worn by the cast
Next on the list was his childhood home.
This statue is so sweet & the opening song to the show.
Of course we couldn't pass up Miss Angel's Heavenly Pies.
Steve is in trouble.
These old police cars are used to take people around on tour to the famous places.
No tour would be complete without the Courthouse & Jail.
Lastly we checked out Wally's Service Station where anyone could stop by & sit in the rockers.
A fun day, actually, brings back memories. We drove to the Cumberland Gap & stayed at the Wilderness Road National Park Campground. It seemed like we would never stop climbing in the Appalachian mountains. It is so amazing to see all that green!
These pics were taken Friday am as we were leaving. The rain started & never stopped! We know why these states are so green!
Beautiful scenery & I knew you’d really like your trip to Mt. Airy!! 😊
