Plymouth & the National Monument to the Forefathers

Image
Sunday  May 29th We were able to attend church close to our campground. That small branch was the friendliest of any ward yet!! Sad to leave Cape Cod behind but onto our next adventure.  I wish I could describe how beautiful it was! If you drive the one main road, that goes up the center, all you see is green & homes & businesses tucked in the foliage. You have to get off the road in each town to really see it. Most places you even have to get off to see the beaches. It's not too commercial. It was very pretty!  Steve & I have seen  Plymouth Rock before. One stands out of mine.  His name was John Alden & he was a Cooper (barrel maker) who worked his way over here. He was one of the first signers of the Mayflower Compact. He became the Governor's Assistant for many years. He helped found the town of Duxbury & this is a pic of his house. In 2015 when we went back east I got to see this house & the Graveyard. OK back to the Museum. President Taft attended this. Built 1907-1910 The Museum had a lot of displays on whaling. When the Whaling industry was waning, Provi...
