Legs of Amarillo, a Prize Bull & Oklahoma or bust!!

Sunday am we headed out to Oklahoma. On our way from Palo Duro Canyon, we spied the Legs of Amarillo.

They say everything is bigger in Texas as these pics show.

We ate a Sunday lunch at the "famous" Big Texan. Some people try to eat a 72 oz steak.(not us) Delicious & very cute.

We cruised Amarillo Route 66 but it was terrible. Not even a picture worthy motel.

We stopped in Shamrock, Texas to see the iconic  Conoco-U Drop Inn.

I actually had a Shamrock Shake in Shamrock, Texas!

We camped out at Elk City Lake Park, Oklahoma. Unfortunately, the sun was in my eyes & the camera was reversed , & I was heartbroken because I wanted you to see how close we were to the lake. There pics are prettier than mine would ever be!

Thank you google for borrowed photos. We were literally on the grass by the water! Not bad at $15. with electric & water!!

Monday morning we began early to visit the Route 66 National Transportation Museum in Elk City.

This was my favorite. A family at a roadside camp. This made camping very popular.

They also had some early Elk City buildings to walk around. We didn't do that for long because it's cold & windy.

Elk City Route 66 is still in good shape . Lots of motels & restaurants. It is evidently a key place for the oil workers.

We moseyed on down the road to Clinton, OK., home of the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum.

After all our Museum energy was spent, it was time to get some vittles.

We went to Lucille's Roadhouse.  Excellent
Philly Steak sandwiches.

Stopped by Lucille's Historic Route 66 Gas Station.

I think my laundry is about done. We are staying outside Tulsa at the Route 66 RV park. Very old! 2 washers & dryers. At least it's done!!
