Day 2 "Riding On the 'City of New Orleans"
How many of you remember that song by Arlo Guthrie?? He was talking about a train but in our case it was the paddlewheel steamer we rode on today, Wednesday.
I dressed nautical to cruise the Mississippi.
Steve dressed to cruise to Hawaii.
This may be the closest we'll ever come to a cruise down the Mississippi. It was fun & about 2 hours. Pretty windy but not cold.
This is the Domino sugar Cane processing plant
The skyline of New Orleans downtown
A pretty picture of the St. Louis Cathedral from the waterside.
There was a Jazz band on deck & they played a lot of Louis Armstrong who was from N.O.
Notice the little alligator?
After we walked 5 blocks to get a hamburger, we took the trolley back. Our next stop of the day was Mardi Gras World.
They store everything that has been used & can repurpose them. They have artists who design & make these characters & floats. They begin with an idea. Then they design on the computer. Next is building the design & carving Styrofoam or paper machete.
They show an interesting film all about Mardi Gras.
Being honorary King has it's responsibilities as you have to put on the next Mardi Gras party..
Alright Steve, can't wait for the next Mardi Gras!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sad you didn't 😢 get any Graceland, pictures for me. Did you go to Memphis?
