Coastal Carolina's

 Our last couple of days have been traveling up the coasts of North & South Carolina.

We tried to stop at Georgetown SC but the parking was crazy. There was no parallel parking, even in the residential areas. 

We went to Pauley's Island which is an old coastal town.

Next up was Murrell's Inlet for a short wal








We stopped for a picnic lunch at a city park.
It was by a small pond with water fountains & a bridge across the pond. I am describing it because I can't find the picture.

We got to Myrtle Beach & decided to stop for the night. It takes so long driving through these little coastal towns. Especially all the tourist traps!! They are very pretty though! Luckily we got a space at the state park campground. We took a walk down to the beach, & no sooner did we get in the trailer & a thunderstorm hit. It went on for an hour or more.

Wednesday we continued our travels Northeast. We saw many more coastal towns in NC. We stopped in Wilmington for lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Steve's back was hurting really bad so thank heavens we only had a 3 hour drive. We camped at Cedar Point in a cg in the Croaton National Forest.
It was early to bed to get up at 4am to catch the ferry.

Winchester, VA

 We said goodbye to Shenandoah & set off for Winchester, Virginia. It is one of the oldest towns. We stopped first at George Washington's office.  The town was founded about 1752. George Washington surveyed the town. Soon after  he joined the military. There was a lot of trouble with Indians. George planned & provided help with building Fort Loudoun in 1755-1756. George served as a Colonel during this time. He used the small office while the fort was being built. The French-Indian War lasted from 1754-1763. We couldn't take pics inside due to some 1 of a kind artifacts in the museum These photos are from the city of Winchester. The fort was torn down after the war was over. A lot of the wood was used in building the town. We went to Stonewall Jackson's Headquarters.  The interesting thing about this house was that it belonged to Mary Tyler Moore's Great Grandfather. The house was built by William Fuller but he sold it to Lewis T Moore in 1856. Moore was a lie...
