The Dutch In Albany & The Susquehanna River

Our first stop was the Albany area. My great grandma was Marion Pryne. I searched years & couldn't find anything much. Not until Ancestry brought up records for Pruyn. They were Dutch & came over to New Amsterdam, NY in the later 1700's. My grandma thought they were Pennsylvania Dutch.

After a lot of research I connected to the family. 3 generations lived in Wisconsin.

There was a Pruyn house near Albany. We went to see it. Beautiful! They hold weddings on the grounds.

These are the servants quarters.

The grounds.

The Garden Club takes care of the grounds.

This was an old schoolhouse that was in the way of a projected airport runway. The city moved it & had to go under a bridge the wrong way. They had to stop traffic.

We next took a little jaunt to Pennsylvania.
Don't believe Google when it says there is construction so take another road. It was narrow & curvy & wash board. It was about a 4 hour drive. (The other road had construction about every 5-10 minutes.!!)

We arrived at the Priesthood Restoration Site. We have not been to this particular site although we have been to most of the others.

We were given a tour of Isaac Hale's Home

Then we went to Emma & Joseph's home.

Then we took a walk down to the Susquehanna River where Joseph was baptized.

At the Visitor Center

Very pretty place! These next 2 pics I took here. But I want you to imagine that this looks like every roadside back east & down south!

We had a very beautiful campsite at Chenango Valley, back in New York. It was only about 30 miles but the roads again were curvy & bumpy!
