Scenic Superior
We are heading home early from our trip. Sean wasn't able to get back in rehab & is in extreme pain. He's pretty helpless at home.
As it is we won't be home till Wednesday. We may be able to take him to Las Vegas Vets & get him some help. He has no home Healthcare, just physical therapy.
My friends have been stretched to the limit & if he goes back in rehab we need to take care of the cat.
Monday night I looked at the map & we were in the perfect place to jump from Canada to the US going down the western side of Lake Superior to Duluth which is what I planned to do later in the trip anyway.
We are going to spend a night in Wisconsin, Minnesota & North Dakota which will accomplish having been to all 50 states.
We still have two Provinces in mid Canada but maybe later we can take the train. We have been out 11 weeks so that is quite awhile!!
We will still be hitting some of the spots we planned so I still have a couple of more blogs in me.
Canada was getting very expensive. Gas & food were higher than us. Why aren't they complaining about inflation. I think they're just too nice!!
Thursday, June 9th
We bid adieu to Canada & set out for the USA. We got our Canadian money exchanged & stopped for gas at $4.79 a gallon. Inside I got a large Dr. Pepper with lots of ice. Steve thought I was going to kiss the ground I was so happy!
First stop Grandview Park where we had a picnic. Yes, in the car because it was raining!
The rain stopped about the time we were done & it became a beautiful day. Next stop was Split Rock Lighthouse. It was very pretty! Also very rugged up on the rock cliff.
The 3 houses were for the Lightkeepers & their Assistants & families. The rooms in the pics were from the Light keepers house.
Steve climbed the lighthouse. I had already dealt with about 20 stairs up to the lighthouse & that was it for me! This was the view out the window & up to the top.
We saw a good film on the lighthouse. The anchor was out front.
We drove to the next wayside rest where you could view the lighthouse from the cliff side.
Down the road was Gooseberry Falls.
It was such a beautiful drive along Lake Superior. We saw the Two Harbors Lighthouse/Museum. It was closed for some reason.
We actually cooked & ate dinner outside! It either was wet, cold, windy or buggy for most of the trip so we had to eat in the trailer most nights. We were armed to the teeth with bug spray & mosquito fans, citronella candles & a big thing that puts out a lot of citronella.
I think my camera lenses are working again!
