Buffalo & More

 Saturday June 11th

This will be my last blog, so here goes!!

On our way to Fort Abraham Lincoln in North Dakota, near Bismarck, we stopped at Jamestown to see the World's Largest Buffalo.

Jamestown has this Buffalo Museum & a cute western town you can spend the day at. We didn't have that kind of time since we are hurrying home.

Fort Abraham Lincoln. We arrived with a 1 hour till closing, so we quickly walked through.

Infantry post. Many things were rebuilt because the settlers used all the wood from the old Fort.

General Custer served there, & this was a home of his.

This was called "On a Slant" Indian Village.

The Mandan people lived in those big dirt mound homes.

Sunday, June 12th. This became a great day! First we went to church in Bismarck, where they also have a temple.

Our first stop was to see Salem Sue in a "very dairy" community.

Next to the Enchanted Highway beginning in Gladstone ND. Some very talented artists!! The theme is everything North Dakota has.

First, Geese In Flight. All the way up to the parking lot were also small metal geese.

Giant Grasshoppers. They even had a little picnic area there with a grasshopper ride on in the playground. This is where we had our last picnic.

Teddy Roosevelt Rides Again

This took about 1 1/2 hours round trip but we were glad we did it.

On to Teddy Roosevelt National Park. We had planned to stay there 2 days. We spent 3 hours. There is a North Unit & a South Unit. We did the South Unit.

Two Visitor Centers & a nature walk. These 3 pics are from the nature trail of the Badlands.

Next up was the 32 mile scenic drive through the Badlands. This is basically a hunt to spot animals. We started out with a  Prairie Dog town.

This is like Where's Waldo! See if you can find them.

As we traveled around we spotted wild horses.

Buffalo are those small black spots down in the riverbed.

Sorry I couldn't see where they were to enlarge them when I took the picture.

But here are two Buffalo or bison that Steve saw on our way back.

He also spied two antelope. I only caught one in the picture.

Another Prarie dog town.

We slept a night in Minnesota, Wisconsin & North Dakota. We have now officially visited all 50 states in over 50 years of marriage!!

We honestly wish we could have completed the last 3 weeks & the two Canadian Provinces. But Sean needs help, so we will look back with fond memories on all the things we did see in almost 3 months.

We stayed away from the big cities. We enjoy the simpler things. We met many nice & kind people.

Thank you for coming along with us on this journey through the highways, byways & farm roads that make up this beautiful country.
